Life Mennonite Fellowship Covenant of Faith and Practice
- Member Covenant -
Confession of Faith
I have accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. By the grace of God and the presence of the Holy Spirit in me, I accept Jesus Christ as Lord of my life. I accept the Bible as the inspired Word of God and the standard for faith and practice in my life. The 1963 Mennonite Confession of Faith states my beliefs and I accept it as my guide for life.
Commitment to the Congregation
I am committed to accountability and responsibility as a member of this congregation. I will participate in mutual sharing of joys and sorrows for the welfare of the body of believers. I will work toward reconciliation in all personal relationships. I am committed to being a disciple and participating in discipling others. (Gal. 6:1-2, Mt. 7:1-5, Mt. 18) I am committed to regularly attending worship services and participating as opportunity arises. I will participate in nurture opportunities such as Sunday school, Bible school, revival meetings, prayer meetings and small groups, for my personal spiritual growth. (Heb. 10:24-25) I will support evangelism and service activities with gifts of time, prayer and finances as the Lord guides me. (Mt. 28:18-20) I accept our relationship with Biblical Mennonite Alliance.
Commitment to Daily Christian Living
I am committed to maintaining a meaningful daily devotional life. (Ps. 1:2-3) I am committed to a life characterized by peace, and I will practice nonresistance in all areas. (John 18:36, Mt. 5:38-48, Ro. 12:18-21, 1 Co. 6:1-8) I am committed to the family as the foundational unit of church and society. I believe in the permanency of marriage terminated only by death. I support the policy of not receiving members who are divorced and remarried while a former spouse is living. (Ro. 7:2-3, Mk. 10:2-10) I am committed to financial responsibility and a simple lifestyle that avoids extravagance and the spirit of materialism. (2 Co 9:6-15, Lu. 16:10-13) I support this covenant and by the grace of God will follow it as my guide for Christian living.
